Does the email builder require HTML knowledge?
No. The drag-and-drop editor is designed so that anyone — designer, marketer, or founder — can build a polished email without touching code. Custom HTML blocks are available for developers who want them, but they are never required.
How does the Outlook compatibility work?
Sendbound's editor generates table-based HTML that is tested against Outlook 2007 through 365, including the Windows desktop clients. The preview mode shows an Outlook-accurate render, and the client compatibility report flags any CSS properties that Outlook is likely to strip or ignore.
Can I import an existing HTML template?
Yes. Paste or upload any HTML email and the editor imports it as an editable template. Blocks are extracted where possible; everything else is preserved as a custom HTML block. You can then modify it with the drag-and-drop interface.
What export formats are available?
You can export any template as clean HTML, copy it to the clipboard, or send it directly from the editor. If your team uses React Email, Sendbound can also export a .tsx component for each template.
How do merge tags and personalization work?
Insert merge tags from your contact data — name, company, plan, any custom field — using the {{tag}} syntax in any text block. The preview panel lets you fill in test values so you can see exactly how personalized content will look before sending.
Can multiple team members collaborate on templates?
Yes. Templates are stored in a shared workspace. Anyone on your team can open, edit, and save templates. Change history is logged so you can see who changed what and roll back to any previous version.
Is there a limit on the number of templates?
No. You can create, save, and share an unlimited number of templates on all plans, including the free tier.
Can I test across real email clients, not just simulations?
Yes. The preview integration renders your email through real rendering engines for every major client. This catches rendering bugs that CSS simulators miss, including Outlook quirks and dark mode rendering differences.
