Audience questions, answered

How are contacts counted for billing?

A contact is counted once per billing period, regardless of tags, segments, or sends. Suppressed records do not increase your active audience.

What's the difference between a tag and a segment?

Tags are durable labels you assign or automate. Segments are live queries that assemble contacts from attributes, activity, and tags.

How do I import from Mailchimp?

Export a CSV from Mailchimp and use Sendbound's mapper to match fields, tags, and consent status before confirming import.

What happens when someone unsubscribes?

They are immediately suppressed globally and in the sending domain. The suppression is checked before every send.

Can I merge duplicate contacts?

Yes. Search for matching email or external IDs, select a canonical profile, and merge attributes and activity history.

How do I export contacts for GDPR requests?

Use the contact's privacy menu to generate a portable data export, or submit an API request with an auditable completion record.
